How to Migrate Your WordPress Site to WPEngine

I’ve talked a lot about the headaches I’ve had with shared/discount hosts like Bluehost, Host Gator, Siteground, etc.  If you, too, are sick of slow page loads, sharing your IP address with spammers, and poor security/support, you’re in the right place.  (See: The Biggest Mistake I ever Made in Online Marketing)

I’ve gotta say, I was a little nervous going into this site migration because I am not a very technical guy.  I can handle most things, but when I see code I run for the hills!

Fortunately, WPEngine’s site migration process was an absolute BREEZE.  You pretty much just install a plug-in, wait, then re-point your domain.

I show you how, step-by-step, above.  I even secured a 20% off discount for WPEngine.  Enjoy and let me know what you think below!

Not only is the migration super easy but if you somehow manage to have a problem, their support is super helpful and will take care of you 100% 🙂

I’ve been on the fence about making the switch for a while now but I think you just pushed me over the edge! I didn’t realize switching over was so simple.

Man, I love it when you want to do something with a WordPress site and it turns out there’s a plugin for it and all you have to do is install it and let it work its magic. On that note, always make sure that there’s NOT a plugin for something you want to do before you try to do it manually – you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve trudged through WordPress code to make my site do something and it turns out I could’ve just installed a plugin that would’ve done it for me!

Migrating to WPEngine was already easy enough back before they made the plugin, but now that the plugin exists it’s pretty much exactly like you said – install the plugin, click a few buttons and watch it go!

Migrating to WPEngine was like a walk in the park compared to other migrations I’ve had to do in the past. Maybe I just got really unlucky but there were so many issues with the migrations I did in the past, even with the help of my hosting’s support team and everything. However when I moved to WPEngine there were no problems whatsoever, and it didn’t even take very long either.
